DSP. Sign is Maker Marked Veribrite Signs. An absolutely incredible example of this iconic and highly sought after C. 1940's Porcelain Service Station Sign from Smitholene Gasoline, considered to be one of the "Holy Grails" of Gasoline & Motor Oil advertising history. Smitholene was an Independently run Oil Company with regional marketing throughout Texas & Arkansas and was founded by W.D. Smith & Son in Texarkana, Texas. Not only is this piece considered to be one of the Holy Grails of the hobby it is also considered to be the finest known example being given our highest numerical grade offered, formerly of the Kyle Moore collection. CONDITION: Sign is simply brilliant showing incredibly color & gloss throughout each side showing an outstanding and unique Airplane graphic soaring throughout the clouds with unique Smith-O-Lene block type print. The fields of each side are extremely glossy showing only the finest amount of faint wear from storage, absolutely nothing noteworthy throughout each side. Sign shows sharp color lines as well as very nice shelving between each color throughout. Sign shows two factory made holes at the bottom edges, both are free of any notable wear and the outer edge is also practically flawless showing only the faintest amount of slight edge wear. The added iron display ring hides no areas of flaw and the edges are clearly visible. Sign shows professionally painted added iron ring along the outer edge which is done in red and displays with the piece incredibly well. An absolutely incredible piece of rare Gasoline advertising, full of incredible display power as well as matchless condition.
