Was originally released as a print in 1907 and this image was used by Winchester for years in various advertising. This appears to be a later print. The back board has a pasted paper with printed story on back. It appears as if this was printed by the apprentices at the Boardman Trade School for the Animal Welfare League for members of the Junior Humane Society. The print itself measures 28.5 x 26" not counting the vintage oak frame. The glass was replaced by plexi-glass. The first junior humane societies were established shortly after the founding of the Women's Animal Center in 1869. This print appears to be from the 1940s, possibly earlier. Conjecture dictates that this illustration, due to the notations on back, was given to donors or printed for fund raising. The Boardman Manual Training School was a public school in New Haven, Connecticut that was part of the York Square "urban campus" dating back to 1892.
