1963, Belgium. The Decap brothers have always strived to give their organs their own character. They were always looking for improvements and innovations. The Decap organs are therefore immediately recognizable both by appearance and sound character. The Decap organs always had an extensive rhythm section, with complete drum sets and additional percussion instruments such as woodblock, tambourine, temple bells, rumba balls, etc. in such a way that all dance rhythms can be realized. Around 1960, space travel and robots were very much in the imagination of the public and the Decap firm in Antwerp thought that this subject offered good potential for animation. The design of the robot figures reflected the contemporary popular concept of what ‘real’ robots might actually look like. The first such instrument proved an instantaneous success and others quickly followed. The robot organ offered here is the largest of this type to be built by Gebroeders Decap, a 105 key instrument built in 1963. Originally built for Mr. Krekel for Hotel Eemland in Soest (Netherlands), Only three 105 key Robot organs were ever produced, and this one was completely restored by. A.C. Pilmer Automatic Music Ltd. Playing beautifully, with great animation, and a wonderful sound. Be sure to visit our website (www.morphyauctions.com) and click on the video to be have a musical experience like no other.
