Complete original German World War II SS oak leaf reversible camo winter uniform. This four piece set was worn by formations of the Waffen SS on all fronts of World War II. The set contains a pair of winter mittens, a detachable hood, trousers, and jacket with hood. The entire set has a winter white reversible camouflage on the inside, and the rare oak leaf camouflage pattern on the outside. The winter mittens appear unissued and are tied to each other, as they are normally issued. The oak leaf pattern has bold colors, while the inside white exhibits some aging. A “10” is lightly written on the inside. The detachable hood also appears to be unissued, and has two ties (20” and 7”) still attached on the left side. The oak leaf pattern is vibrant with bold colors. Inside exhibits some aging to the white, as well as brown freckling. The padded winter jacket is made from several minor variants to the oak leaf pattern; as commonly encountered. Two front sections are made from a fabric with a higher rayon content than most of the uniform. Half of the right sleeve is also made from this fabric. There is a subdued rank insignia present on the left sleeve, 6” from the shoulder sleeve. The rank indicates an “Untersturmfuehrer” (2nd Lieutenant). The green subdued on black rank insignia is machine sewn to the jacket with black thread, and is not sewn through the lining. The waist belt is present. There are six white pressed paper buttons on the inside facing, and two on the inside pockets. There are six metal buttons on the outside facing, as well as two on the pocket flaps. Those eight buttons are painted field grey. All buttons appear to be originally applied. The jacket has been worn and exhibits soiling around the neck, along the bottom, and both sides of the open facing. A faint “1” in a circle is present on the right side area near the button holes. The oak leaf trousers are also reversible, and is lightly worn. It has six glass buttons around the waist on the outside for the attachment of suspenders. The fly area is secured by another three glass buttons. All buttons appear to be originally applied. A very rare and desirable Waffen SS reversible winter set with rank insignia.
