IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVAL DAGGER.
Classic Imperial Japanese naval dagger with evidence of gilding to the mounts. Fit with two hangers, polished rayskin wrapped saya, and sa-me (rayskin) wrapped handle wire spiral wire braid. Mounts with designs of sakura blossoms and falling leaves throughout. Ubu (uncut) mumei (unsigned) blade appears to be of traditional manufacture with suguha (straight) temper line and a single bo-hi (groove). With purple silk bag. CONDITION: Blade with some scattered handling marks and cleaned oxidation, primarily to groove. Scattered handling marks and rubs, with better retention of gilding in protected areas.
