Third quarter 19th century, American. The ivorytype with flecked gold border, mounted in its original embossed leather case with hinged lid depicting a young girl in profile with ribbon-tied brown hair fashioned in ringlets, wearing a gold locket on chain over a black dress with lace collar and pinafore. The rear of the image retains original paper label marked "Crystal-Ivorytype" and original oval green label stamped with "587" in red ink. Ivorytype is 5-1/2" x 7". The image is extremely clear with no imperfections, lifting or discoloration. There are minor flea bites to the edge of the glass. Overall very good.
