Circa 1971-1975. 6 - 1/8" double edged dagger blade bears Lile's engraved marking "HAND MADE BY JAMES B. LILE". Walrus ivory handle from an old carving set is carved in relief with a hunting bag. Flat guard of nickel silver, no sheath. 10 - 3/8" overall length. CONDITION: Knife appears unused and in near mint condition. Known as "The Arkansas Knifesmith", Jimmy Lile (1933-1991) was named to both the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame and the American Bladesmith Society Hall of Fame, the maker of the original First Blood / Rambo movie knives and was a very influential promoter of handmade knives during his lifetime. Formerly part of the Tommie Jones collection.
