A tinplate and wood model of an oil burning locomotive headlight from the 1870s. The model is beautifully crafted in tinplate and has a 5-1/4" glass bezel and red and green side lights. There is no maker's hallmark anywhere to be found. The right side, hinged door opens, permitting the oil-burning apparatus inside to be slid out. There is a silvered mirror mounted on the back wall inside. The light is mounted on a wood seat board which has a tinplate skirt covering the front area. Condition: The unit was beautifully painted in black semi-gloss with ornate pin striping in red and gold. There is significant paint loss over the entire unit, but it is very presentable and a real nice, rare early model.
Condition: (Good).
Item Dimensions: 8 - 1/2" x 5 - 1/4" x 12 - 3/4".
