January 11th 2014 Gun Sale (01)
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/10/2014
(Refer: Geo.Neuman's Weapons of the American Revolution, p.237 # 6 P.P.) with "Dublin Castle". Original Flintlock . Marked with a "Crown over G R" and the "Broad Arrow". The brown-black surfaced 9" barrel has its proof marks intact, and the brass mounts are original, including (possibly) its original brass-typed ramrod. The stock shows its usage and wear but is "fully intact" with numerous "pock-marks,"and has an "old break" (reglued tightly) at the wrist of the pistol grip. The walnut stock has a dark, mellow finish and has the raised apron around the barrel tang. Additionally, there is an "I.W," inscribed on the side plate. The gun shows its active history, undoubtedly coming here in the era of the American Revolution and probably left here.
