Circa 1850's. SN-33420. From the collection of Rita Ford Music Boxes, this fine early key-wind music box playing 12 tunes was made by Nicole Freres. This is a fat cylinder box that is 3 - 1/8” diameter by 12 - 1/8” in length that plays 12 tunes as listed on original tune card, two per revolution. The fine cut comb has approximately 130 teeth resulting in beautiful, complex arrangements. Both the comb and bedplate are signed and the serial number is stamped on the upper right corner of the bedplate. This piece recently underwent a complete restoration to the case and movement. A very high quality music box with excellent tone.
