This rifle was manufactured in 1884. Often referred to as the Centennial Model as it was introduced at the Philadelphia Exhibition in 1876. For those unfamiliar with this rifle, it resembles a Model 1873 on steroids. Standard features include a 28" round barrel, full magazine, and rifle buttplate. Sights are the 1876 dated ladder rear with blade front. It is chambered for the Winchester .40-60 cartridge and is a standard rifle in all respects. All metal surfaces are extremely clean exhibiting a soft grey-brown patina. Strong factory stamps on barrel. 80% blue remains on loading gate. Excellent walnut stocks are still proud to metal with usual minor dings but no cracks or major chips. There are seven small kill notches on the bottom of frame. Action is perfect. Bore is very good with strong rifling and minor corrosion. Far better than average example of this popular early lever action rifle.
