This fine rifle was manufactured in 1897. It matches factory records with the following special features: 22" full round barrel, full magazine, takedown, pistol grip deluxe checkered stocks, smooth shotgun buttplate, Winchester grip cap, blued finish, with a tang sight, three leaf folding rear sight, and ivory bead front. Beautiful antique special order short rifle chambered for the .30-30 Winchester cartridge. Barrel and tube retain approximately 85% original factory blue mixed with plum. Receiver retains approximately 75% original high polish factory blue mixed with smooth gun metal grey. Beautiful all original XXX walnut stock with no cracks or chips and never refinished. Traces of color on lever. Perfect action. Strong bore. Rarely seen factory documented Winchester deluxe short rifle. Its interesting that the factory letter verifies all the special order features and the serial number books dates this to 1897. The factory letter states that the serial number was applied April 23, 1900.
