This rifle is from an order of rifles placed by the New York Nation Guard in 1871. It is chambered for the .50-70 govt cartridge. Features a 36" barrel, three U.S. barrel bands, high three point shield hammer. All metal surfaces have been polished to brilliant, almost nickel appearance. Wood stocks are very good as refinished with no visible cartouche. the buttplate has 27 stamped on it. Comb has an ID tag attached (No. 11). There is a name carved into the comb (F.A. Wh___). Left side of barrel has a B inspector mark. Perfect action and bore. Very handsome rifle. Includes bayonet.
