Factory letter indicates this rifle was sent from the Hartford factory on May 12th, 1875 to John P. Moore's Sons in New York City. It was shipped as .44 caliber with a 28" full octagon barrel, double triggers, globe and peep sights, and oil finished stocks. Barrel retains approximately 75% original factory blue with the balance turning a pleasing blue-brown patina. There are traces of nice colors on left side of frame. The walnut stocks are excellent with no cracks. Has the pewter fore end tip, standard rifle butt, long range tang sight, 1859 Lawrence folding rear sight, and the Spirit Level globe front sight. Strong bore and perfect action. Extremely nice 1874 sporting rifle.
