Offered is a rare and a desirable Arkansas Toothpick stamped bowie knife manufactured by James Rodgers Sheffield circa 1860. Features an 8-1/2" clipped point blade, has a German nickel quillion, checkered ebony handle, and German silver guard and pommel. The handle is excellent but does have a stress crack on left side. It does have some blood pitting and has been cleaned. Blade shows light sharpening. Comes in its original embossed sheath with German silver throat and tip. Extremely desirable and scarce classic bowie knife. An almost identical knife is pictured on page 81 in the second edition of "Bowie Knifes & Bayonets of the Ben Palmer Collection".
