4,800 of these revolvers were manufactured between 1858 and 1862. The number 23 can be found stamped on the loading lever, on the underside of the barrel, on the back of the cylinder, and wedge. Standard features include a 4" octagon barrel, varnished two piece walnut grips, blued finish with case hardened hammer and loading lever, engraving on frame and backstrap are standard to this model. This is considered a series one due to the five shot cylinder and ten cylinder stops (all original nipples). The screws are perfect. Barrel retains approximately 60% of the original high polish factory blue starting to plum. There are some minor abrasions around the wedge on right side. Engraved frame is basically a soft grey. Original grips exhibit most of the original varnish, and the name "Hunt" has been carved into the right panel. Strong rifling. Cylinder is basically a soft brown patina. Single action works fine but a little off time.
