This early Model 1875 Remington sports the standard 7-1/2" barrel, six shot, single action, nickel finish, wood grips, and chambered for the .44 caliber (stamped on left frame). This model has the blade front sight. Walnut grips have been checkered, finely done but not factory. Not a trace of the original nickel finish remains, unless grips are removed. It is basically a dark brown chocolate patina with raised freckling. Cylinder indexes. Good rifling but minor corrosion. Also includes a vintage handmade holster with some beadwork snap clasp with a star in the center. Comes with several documents stating this was owned by a curator of a museum and may have been associated with the Indian Police, as many nickel plated guns were purchased for their use in the 1880's. We can find no documentation or markings on the revolver substantiating this claim.
