Barrel length is 42-1/2", has a .69 bore. This flintlock musket is very similar to the model 1798 but is devoid of any makers or proof marks which may indicate American manufacture and looks very similar to the 1798 Whitney. Features three barrel bands, all metal is finished in the white with brown freckling overall. The hammer is loose and has been cleaned. The lock is devoid of any factory stamps. The sling swivel at trigger guard has been plugged, no front sling swivel, trumpet rod with small brass sight set in front barrel band. Stock is excellent with no cracks with the exception of some grain separation at buttplate and some minor chips. Extremely handsome turn of the 18th century contract musket.
