Bore size is .60bore flintlock and barrel is 9"T. Ketland & Co. Thomas Sr., a very successful Birmingham gun maker. He started in business around 1760, expanded into the export market around 1790, died in 1816. His business was carried on until bankrupt in 1821.The company made flintlock pistol hand guns and became successful in this field of gun manufacture.W. Ketland is Thomas Ketland Sr's eldest son. He was originally a partner with his father and William Walker. He petitioned to liquidate his part in the firm in 1800. The partnership was dissolved in 1801. These pistols were widely distributed in the colonies prior to and shortly after the American Revolution. Offered is a fine example that features the solid brass barrel, light engraving stamped London with 3 British proof marks. There are no sights, brass identification plaque, butt, trigger guard, and 2 retaining thimbles. Light engraving on trigger guard, the lock is stamped T. Ketland and Co and has a excellent 1 piece stock with no cracks with the exception of small grain separation at left forend.
