8mm with a 21-1/2" barrel. Blued finish with wood stock. Matching number on floor plate, trigger guard and frame. These are referred to as “Cut-A-Ways” in that various cuts have been made into a standard Model 98 German Mauser military rifle to show all of the inner workings of the firearm. The workmanship on this cut out is of superior quality and this example remains in near mint condition as altered. It would be nearly impossible to determine if this is a factory done Cut-A-Way or expertly performed by a master machinist, with this in mind, as a display piece, it is irrelevant. This is the type of item that would interest any Mauser collector and would make for a great display. Rifle is fully operational, but of course cannot be fired due to the breech of the barrel being exposed.
