Serial no 99406. Caliber is 45-70 GOVT. Barrel length is 32 5/8 inches. Standard issue US Model Trapdoor rifle. Barrel has the VP Eagle stamp. Block is stamped US Model 1878. Side plate is stamped US Springfield with Eagle. Barrel is a fine smooth mix of blue brown patina. Bands and butt plate stamped with US stamps. Side plate and hammer retain generous amounts of original blue as does trigger guard. Has an excellent original walnut stock. The cartouche on left side is not visible but Script P at wrist still present. Fine working order with excellent bore. This rifle is accompanied by an original bayonet with metal scabbard and partial leather frog.
