.40-82 caliber with a 26" barrel. Manufactured in 1888. This Model 1886 has the very scarce special order part octagon barrel with the full magazine, which is rarely seen on this model. In addition, it has the steel shotgun buttplate. The barrel and tube are a deep, rich brown patina with light freckling and gun metal grey at high edges of barrel flats. The case colored frame has turned a gun metal grey with brown patina. 80% original blue on bolt. Forearm is excellent with the original finish, proud to metal with no cracks or chips. Butt stock is slightly shy to metal, having been redone at onetime, and does have some grain separation at bottom near the plate. Has a strong rifled bore with minor abrasions. Perfect action. Very handsome and rare rifle as is, could be much nicer with a little attention to the butt stock.
