.30 WCF with a 22" barrel. Factory research lists following: Serial number applied: February 26th, 1907; Type: rifle; Caliber: .30; Barrel type: 1/2 octagon; Barrel length: 22"; Trigger: set; Plain pistol grip stock, checkered; Sights: Lyman hunting front and Cal buckhorn rear; Shotgun butt; Screw eyes. Shipped from warehouse March 11th, 1909. The rifle survives in the described configuration. None of the aforementioned features have been changed or altered, and all are present. The letter does not indicate full magazine (does not mention magazine at all), which indicates a full magazine as a 1/2 magazine would have been specified. Barrel retains approximately 90% of the original factory blue finish with some light muzzle wear, high edge wear on octagon flats and thinning at breech. The tube is a pleasing blue-brown patina with most of the original blue in protected areas. Forend cap is a soft gun metal grey patina, as is the frame. Loading gate retains 60% original blue. No visible case colors on lever or hammer. Fine screw heads with a couple exhibiting minor deformation. Walnut stocks are original, proud to metal with no cracks. There is a small 3/4" x 1/4" repair at left forward tang. There are the usual hunting impressions, along with some minor grain separation where butt meets the steel checkered plate. The original Winchester checkering pattern is visible but is wearing smooth and has the original grip cap. The rear trigger does not set and will need adjusting. Action is perfect. Bore exhibits very good rifling with some wear and frosting. This fine special order deluxe short rifle remains in lovely untouched condition and letters all the way.
