.22 rimfire caliber with a 3" barrel. This is the star of the collection and possibly the rarest gun. It is the Sportsman, second variation of 1933, nine shot double action .22 with blued finish and finely checkered walnut grips. This gun sports the very rare, never seen 3" barrel. The cylinder has the post April 18, 1933 patent stamp. Has the front sight set screw. The address is on top of frame. It has the correct crown and the left barrel legend was stamped further back than the standard models due to the short barrel. The condition remains near new retaining virtually all of the factory high polish blue finish with just a hint of light edge wear. The checkered walnut grips are near mint, one piece, with the checkered back strap. This is the first of this early type short barrel we have ever seen and given the near new condition, would be impossible to improve on if one could fine another example. It is verified in the new book on these revolvers and these guns are becoming eagerly sought.
