Serial number is 49158, caliber is .38 long Colt, barrel length is 3-1/2". This revolver was manufactured in 1884. The factory letter states that this gun was shipped in a 20 gun lot to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. Chicago on February 23, 1884. It is a Store Keeper or Sheriff’s Model sans any provision for an ejector rod with a 3 ½” barrel, nickel finish, rubber grips in .38 caliber. It features the desirable early etched panel which remains vibrant. The entire gun retains at least 85% of the original factory nickel finish with most of the wear at muzzle and end of cylinder which now blends in a perfect, soft gun metal gray. Gutta Percha grips are excellent. Ample amounts of fire blue on back of hammer and trigger. Fine working order in both single and double action with tight lock up. Bore is superb. Nice early etched panel Lightning.
