Barrel length is 20", Caliber .44 boreThis is an unusual Carbine to say the least. It is of the period and looks identical to a Model 1873 Winchester but is completely devoid of any factory marks. There is no serial number, no tang stamp, no caliber markings, and no barrel address. In addition, there are no foreign proof marks either. The frame is tapped for a saddle ring, no saddle ring nor stud. The dust cover is cut into the frame like a first model but does not have a thumb print. It chambers the standard 44-40 cartridge. The back barrel band has the integral sling swivel and the stock sports a sling swivel. The butt plate has the cleaning rod brass trap door. The brass lifter has no caliber markings, all metal surfaces are a smooth grey patina. Features Winchester style single leaf folding rear sight stamped 3. The front sight is part of the barrel band as is the first model Winchester. Has the walnut carbine type rear stock that is proud to metal everywhere but the right tang and is in excellent condition. The forend is excellent. The bore is near mint and action perfect. It is are opinion that this is a foreign made copy manufactured during the period.
