36" barrel, .52bore This half stock percussion sporting rifle is neither maker signed nor is the lock marked. This is an early half stock in the design which is similar to the early long rifles. Has a striped finish with the raised left cheek piece rib with a brass 6 point star, butt plate and toe plate. Has a singular brass rod thimble in stock. The full octagon barrel has a bottom rib with one thimble and a pewter nose cap. Also has a Penn. rifle brass trigger guard and double set triggers. The barrel is a brown/gray spotted patina with a fixed rear sight and a small dove tail blade front. The lock is a dark gray patina and the brass screws have been peened. The stock is cracked at the wrist and has some minor chipping around the plate and a 3” crack forward of the lock. There is some chipping around the stock screw, missing ram rod. The rail is partially detached at the muzzle. This has the basis of being a very lovely rifle and someone who is handy with the stock repairs could greatly improve the appearance of this rifle.
