5" barrel in .45 ACP. This pistol began life as a standard Remington Rand Model 1911 Colt contract pistol manufactured in 1944 as a standard U.S. Army issue, and so stamped. It has all standard parts with the "F.J.A." (Frank Atwood) inspector stamp on left side of frame. This gun was nickel plated some time after its original issue and sports the original plastic Keyes grips. This pistol comes with a detailed history of how it ended up in Vietnam in the hands of Edward Korek, Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. His notarized letter states "while serving with the Marine Air Group 36 at Phu Bai, Vietnam in 1968, I bartered with another marine and received this .45. This weapon was carried by me as my personal weapon, often when on convoys and flights from Phu Bai, to Da Nang, Quang Tri, Dong Ha, and other bases and LZ's throughout Vietnam. I carried this weapon as my personal sidearm for the remainder of my tour. The .45 has not been altered in any way since the day I received it. The nickel plating and hand grips are original to that day." This is a very historical pistol in that it saw use in World War II, the Korean War, and ended up in the hands of a Marine Corps Sergeant who served in some of the most vicious fighting in the entire conflict. The gun retains virtually all of the reapplied nickel finish. Grips are excellent. Fine bore and action.
