A very desirable as well as eye appealing French automaton depicting a male youth standing atop of his velvet covered sculptured base. When the mechanism is activated the paper mâché headed youth proceeds to whistle a tune while his eyes open and close. The automaton appears to be in original condition other than some typical touch up to the paper mâché head. Manufactured with either a bisque Jumeau head or as in this case the paper mâché head which is more desirable to collectors of automata. Overall in very fine functional condition.
