8mm caliber with a 2-1/4" barrel. Offered is a Le Gaulois French Pistol. In 1893 in the “Manufacture de Saint Etienne” catalog appears a curious small repetition pistol sold under the “Machine Gun” name. A few years later it will be renamed the “Gaulois” and will remain in production until the beginning of World War I. Invented by Brun-Latrige this gun doesn’t have a trigger as the rear part acts as the repetition and ignition mechanism. This pistol features full factory engraving. The top of the barrel is stamped "Gaulois, No. 3, Caliber 8mm.". It is also stamped "Armes Lt Cycles". There is a safety on the left side marked "S/F". The push bar retains 70% original case colors, palm swell is a checkered black and orange gutta percha. Pistol retains 95% of the original factory blue finish. Excellent bore and perfect action. Extremely interesting hide-away palm pistol from the early part of the 20th century in beautiful all original condition.
