This lot of two Smith & Wesson revolvers were once the property of Chief Deputy Tom Heatherly. These weapons were his personal firearms while Chief in Dallas. They are accompanied by a letter from Mr. Heatherly to a Mr. Bob Lacey dated January 7, 1981 were he states within; he began his career in Amerillo, Texas. He entered the Texas Highway Patrol in 1956. He joined the Lubbock P.D. in 1961. In 1964 he became deputy Sheriff. He entered the U.S. Marshall's in 1967. He further states that during his ten years, while he was Chief in Dallas, he carried the Smith & Wesson Serial number J692757 and the Smith & Wesson Model 66 serial number 80K1800 and has signed the letter. The first gun the Smith & Wesson model 36, Chief special is a standard five shot double action with factory nickel finish and pearl grips with a 2" barrel and case color hammer and trigger. This revolver is in near new condition and has no signs of ever having been fired. Manufactured in 1979-1980. The second revolver Model 66 is a stainless steel, six shot double action with a 2-1/2" barrel chambered for the .357 magnum cartridge with adjustable sight and smooth medallion grips. This revolver comes with a letter from Weldon Bledsoe, a master engraver from Fort Worth, Texas who studied under Cole Agee. His letter states "Dear Bob (Lacey), In August of 1980 I received a Smith & Wesson revolver, Model 66, 2-1/2" barrel, stainless steel, serial number 80K1800 from Chief Deputy United States Marshall Tommy Gene Heatherly, Dallas Texas for full coverage engraving by me as follows; Right side plate; T.G. Heatherly. Chief DEP. U.S. Marshal. Dallas, Texas. This revolver was then fully engraved in the traditional scroll style by me by a presentation to Mr. Robert G. Lacey of Alburn Alabama from Chief Marshall U.S. Deputy Heatherly. This revolver was finished a delivered in November of 1980." According to the Smith & Wesson standard catalog this gun was manufactured in 1980. It does not show any signs of ever having been fired. This is a beautiful pair of Smith & Wesson's with complete history. This pair dates to the end of his career.
