Barrel length 20". 12 bore. Cylinder choked. 2-3/4" chamber. Offered is a fine high condition Model 1897 Winchester trench gun. Distinguishing features include blued heat shield with 6 rows of 29 holes, bayonet lug, sling swivels, blue finish, 18 groove walnut fore end, walnut stock with Winchester logo, and black composite butt plate. Left side of stock has W.B. cartouche in box with ordinance wheel. Rear left side of frame is stamped U.S. with flaming bomb. Breech is stamped CYL for cylinder choke. Top of barrel has flaming bomb above PW oval. Overall metal retains approximately 90% or better original high polish blued finish. Stock is near mint. Has vintage slings with brass frogs. The six row hand guard is typical of early World War II. Has the fluted World War II stock. The serial number falls into the most commonly encountered range of 930000-953000. Has the E prefix on the serial number. WB inspector mark is for Waldomier Broberg. This has the latter second type flaming bomb on barrel. Overall exceptional clean World War II 97 trench gun. Has a fine bore and action.
