Caliber .65 smooth bore, Barrel length 8-1/2". Round barrel, stamped "WG" on the left side, with an engraved breech and tang. Lock is stamped "Grice", breech of barrel has a crown with a "6". Features brass engraved thumb plate, pommel, trigger guard and two thimbles with brass side plate. Iron furniture is smooth brown patina, brass has not been cleaned. Excellent clean bore. Fine action. Ebony tipped cleaning rod. Beautiful walnut stock with no cracks or chips. The book "Gun Makers of London" lists a James Grice 1793-1796, Joseph Grice 1782-1797, William Grice 1766-1790, John Grice 1712-1714, and William Jr 1803. Noted areas include Salters Hill, Cannon Street, and Birmingham. Fine early English flintlock.
CORRECTION: There is an expert period repair crack on handle.
