42” barrel in .69 caliber percussion. Standard musket U.S. issue in excellent all original condition. Lock is stamped “Springfield 1849” with U.S. eagle. Top of butt plate stamped “U.S.”. Has two barrel bands with a front band that has integral sight. Correct cleaning rod. Includes bayonet. All furniture finished in the white, now spotted patina. Left side of barrel has the “V.P.” proofs. Stock has the inspector cartouche in oval and is stamped “A.A.D.” over a second inspector stamp in oval. Wood is in excellent condition. A far above average, very clean U.S. 1842.
