Caliber .28-30 Stevens, Barrel length 26”. The Stevens Ideal rifle No. 44-1/2 was manufactured 1903-1916. The action was considered one of the finest falling block types ever manufactured. This rifle features: half octagon barrel, walnut stock, rifle butt plate and case colored receiver and lever. The frame retains virtually all the re-applied case colors. Original walnut stocks have been finely custom checkered. Butt stock is excellent, well fitting, with sharp checkering, no cracks. Forearm checkering has some dents. Barrel has been cleaned and is now an aged gun metal color. Legends are sharp. Front and rear sights are missing. Scope blocks are installed for a tube scope. Very good rifle bore with wear. This would be a perfect rifle to re-bore in a more available caliber and to refinish the barrel. Would be an excellent shooter.
