Barrel lengths are 28”. American Made 20 bore percussion smoothbore double with top barrel in.38 percussion. Levi Charles Kersey operated out of Rochester, New York from 1855 to 1857, Elmira New York 1859, and St Louis Missouri 1869 to 1870. He moved to California in 1874. This is a highly unusual combination gun with the rifle barrel on top with sporting sights. Has double shot -gun hammers on back lock actions and an under hammer for the rifle barrel. Features double triggers, front trigger operates left shot gun barrel. There is no for-end and has a round knob butt stock. Checkering is wearing thin, but is in good condition. Smooth steel shotgun butt-plate with engraved elongated tang at heel. Drilled for a lollipop sight, now missing. Top of barrel is stamped “L.C. Kersey”. Does not state location. There is a crack at the left lower wrist from plate to guard and a chip at the toe. Sports period ram rod. All metal is brown patina. Gun is in working order, but sketchy. Extremely interesting mid -19th century American made gun.
