22” barrel in .52 percussion caliber. Approximately 40,000 manufactured for use during the Civil War. One of the most popular weapons for the Union Army. This was the carbine that was manufactured with iron furniture without a patch-box. All metal is a grey patina with age spotting and proper military proofs including the saddle ring bar. Walnut stock is very good with no readable cartouche. “T.W.R.” inspector stamp. Features the Lawrence patent rear sight. Some pitting on the block. There is a closed 3’’ crack on left side of stock as well as a closed 3/4’’ crack on right side wrist. 3’’ crack on right side of stock. Strong rifled bore with minor corrosion. Fine action. Fine, unconverted Civil War survivor.
