4-1/2” barrel in .38 Long Colt caliber. Manufactured in 1880. This six shot, double action revolver remains in near new, unfired condition. It is referred to as the “Sheriff’s Model” as it was manufactured without an ejector. Most Sheriff’s Models featured barrels that measure 3-1/2” or less and are quite scarce with the longer 4-1/2” barrel. Other features include full factory nickel finish with fire blue trigger and screws. The top and back of hammer are also fire blued with polished sides. This revolver sports period Mother of Pearl grips that are very well fitted. This revolver shows no signs of having ever been fired, there is not a trace of cylinder burn. The etched panel on left side is perfect. Sharp barrel legends. Left trigger bow stamped “38”. Three line patent on left side of frame. All matching numbers. Revolver retains 98%+ original factory nickel finish. Screws, hammer, and trigger retain at least 50% of the fire blue. Pearl grips are excellent with a few minor chips and small initials carved on left panel. Bore is strong and clean. Perfect index and lock-up in both single and double action mode. This revolver is about as nice as they come and would look right at home in an original box. Colt factory letter lists gun shipped as described to Hartley & Graham on December 31, 1881 as described.
