This lot consists of three pieces; two Redware banks and one metal box. This tin box with small handle on top is primarily painted black save for the small areas yellow hand painted designs. This box has a latch on the front to open it with a floral design on either side. The interior is plain metal. The box is approximately 2-7/8 x 2 inches. Paint has been chipped away and missing from the sides of the box. There are also scratches to the yellow paint. The inside of the box appears to have some rust. The hinge on the back of the box has been soldered. The two banks are Redware pieces. One is a barrel with an opening at the top for the coins. This bank is painted red with gold lines. The barrel is approximately 3-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches. The other Redware bank is jug-shaped with a small handle at the top. This bank is painted red as well, with some black linear design. This bank is approximately 3 x 4 inches. When the barrel bank is picked up, it rattles as if something is inside. There are places where the glaze is gone revealing the clay underneath. Discoloring and crazing are present. The base is not flat; there are inconsistencies in the clay along with wear to the foot- leaving nicks and chips. The jug bank has glaze missing in areas along with discoloration. Along the coin opening, part of the clay is chipped off as well as on the base and the top. There are inconsistencies in the clay as well.
