This lot is of two Meissen porcelain figurines, a German man and woman. Based on the two blue crossed swords on the base of each figurine, it appears that this man and woman are dated to 1934. In some places they are known as the "Garden Children". Both figures are dressed in colonial attire and barefoot. The woman carries a basket full of grapes and a scythe in the other hand. On the base of the woman figurine “4 J12V” is stamped to the left of the swords. There are other numbers stenciled on the base along with pencil markings and “GERMANY”. The male figurine dons a tri-cornered hat and carries a basket of grapes in one hand while in the other; he holds a stick that has another basket of grapes at the end of it. He stands in front of a tree stump. On the base of this figure a "4" is imprinted along the base with some pencil markings. There is also a reddish mark next to the air hole on the bottom that is used for the air to escape during firing. Both figures stand over 5-1/2 inches tall. Both items are in good condition. On the male figure there are a few chips- one on the lower basket of grapes. On that same side, where part of the red bow on the knee is visible, leaving the edges sharp. On the woman figurine there are also some chips- one on the yellow bow on the back of her corset.
