22" barrel in .52 caliber. This is a typical converted carbine under the 1877 contract under the U.S. Government with the cam operated firing pin. This carbine is within 2000 numbers of an identical example pictured on page 177 in the book "Sharps Firearms" by Frank Sellers. These converted Sharps carbines are extremely historical due to the fact that most were used during the Civil War and subsequently reissued for the duration of the Indian Wars. This carbine remains in all original as converted condition and has seen very little use. The barrel retains approximately 90% of the dull original factory blue it also has the original Sharps Lawrence carbine military rear sight. Single barrel band, post front sight, walnut forend. Beautiful walnut butt stock in excellent to near mint condition with the visible DFC ( David Clark ) ribbon on left side of stock with a DH cartouche on left wrist that is perfect. Frame has nice traces of case colors. Several of the screws and spring still retain the majority of their fire nitre blue finish. Has a strong near mint bore and perfect action. Has original saddle ring bar and ring. Extremely fine example of Indian war Sharps carbine.
