Referred to as the .44 Double Action Frontier, as it is chambered for the .44 Winchester cartridge. 15,340 were manufactured from 1886 to 1913. Very popular large frame big bore Western revolver that features blued finish, six shot, double action with case colored hammer and trigger and a Smith & Wesson logo black composite grips. Matching serial numbers on back of cylinder, barrel release and back of barrel. Indexes like new with tight lock-up. Perfect double and single action. Fine strong clean bore. Original grips are excellent and fit perfectly with usual wear. Revolver retains approximately 30-40% original blue finish with balance blending to grey-blue patina. Traces of color on hammer and trigger. A very nice example of a scarce blued finish with just honest use and no alterations.
