Overall length 18-1/4", blade length 13-1/4". Circa 1865. This is one of a very small group made by Samuel Bell while residing in Knoxville Tenn. Highly sought by collectors, only perhaps six of this style known. Blade stamped on left side "Samuel Bell Knoxville Tennessee". Floral and scrolled etched overall on left side. Right side enhanced at the top starting at the rear with fingernail file design, then a blood groove for half the length of the blade, followed by classic Bell swedge. Modern sharpening marks at the edge blade, black staining in spots with very minor pitting. Unique floral design German silver Bell crossguard. Beautiful ivory scales, decorated with six German silver studs and name plate on each side. German silver coffin pommel. Red leather, tooled scabbard. German silver mounts with scalloped edges. Note: One of the ivory scales on the handle is chipped - a small scalloped piece is missing. This damage is not depicted in the photographs.
