Bright round smoothbore barrel with bayonet lug and proofs cleaned off. Rounded flintlock with round rear tang and marked “TOWER” vertically at tail and “crown/VR” with British ordnance proof in center. Full length walnut stock. Brass third model furniture; sling swivels; steel ramrod. Most of these muskets marked “VR” were destroyed in a fire at the Tower. This is a rare late third model, as Queen Victoria was crowned in 1837 and the military switched to the percussion system in 1839. Good condition. All steel components cleaned bright, brass polished, some lock markings faint. Stock good, crack with filled repair around wrist.
