January 19th 2017 Premier Gold Rush
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 1/19/2017
This is one of only two known. It is pictured in the definitive books on this type of jewelry "California's Best" page 61. It is a wonderful example of the great skill of the few San Francisco jewelers that made all this jewelry during the Gold Rush period. Gold from three different mines was used, as you can see the colors are black, white and rose. The body of the butterfly is done in yellow and rose gold. If you look at the wings on the back, they are done all in rose gold. Everything is in perfect condition; no chips of note in the quartz, which is highly laden with gold.
Item Dimensions: 2 - 3/4" L.
