Circa 1860. Decorated on both sides with eight gold quartz panels surrounding an oval gold quartz centerpiece. Chip to one oval piece, chip missing from one side panel. On one side oval lifts to reveal a compartment inside the lid with eight pie-cut partitions, each containing different color ore samples. Also room inside for picture.
