Size No. 18. Watch case of dark yellow gold. Lid on front is inlaid with raised rose gold shield, engraved with "US", and surrounded by raised light yellow gold flowers. Outside of back lid shows two racing horse heads, one in rose gold and one in different color yellow gold, with white gold harnesses. Framed with rose gold horseshoe inset with traditional seven nails which are facet cut diamonds. Watch signed on face "American Waltham Watch Co.". Inside back lid presentation reads, "John F. Schmidt from his wife 1897". Also watch maker is marked "Elgin Commander 89379". Gold case is in wonderful condition, showing very light pocket wear.
