This Weatherby custom shop engraved rifle features deep relief engraving extending 8” from breech on barrel. The frame is fully engraved, as is the bolt head, bolt, trigger guard, and floorplate. The floorplate has a solid gold elk and the trigger guard has a silver overlay “RWC” for Roy Weatherby Custom/Crown. The rear barrel bridge has an integral claw mount and the frame bridge is tapped for standard scope mount. Bolt and lifter are jeweled. Stock is fancy grade walnut and exhibits the typical Weatherby profile with basket weave checkering and rosewood forend and grip cap. The stock has the Type 10-B stock inlays on right side of stock and three places on forend. Equipped with sling eyes and a Weatherby red waffle recoil pad. Rifle was made without sights. Fine bore and action. The .270 Weatherby Magnum was the fastest and most powerful .270 caliber ever produced. It is referred to as a Belted Magnum. A nearly identical engraved and inlaid example can be found on page 110 of the 1967-68 catalog offered at $1,459. Action was made by J.P. Sauer and was used since the late 1950’s. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this firearm will be given to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
