Round steel rifled barrel marked at breech “V/P/eagles head/P” and stamped on top with “R”. Replaced with Buffington rear sight. Blued breech block U.S./MODEL/1873. Flat lock plate stamped with large eagle and marked “U.S./SPRINGFIELD”. Standard steel trap door carbine mounts including single barrel band with sight attachment, carbine bar and ring, serrated trigger, and steel butt plate stamped “US” and walnut carbine stock. Very good condition, barrel retains a dark gray patina with some scattered marks from use. Excellent markings. Replaced sight, retains most of blue finish with marred screw. Breech block retains about 90% blue finish with some edge wear and scattered marks. Excellent shiny bore. Lock retains generous traces of blue with some fading and scattered dark spots. Furniture mostly gray with scattered dark spots. Stock has been sanded and has a few minor marks and scratches.
