Manufactured 1936. Considered one of the Holy Grails of Colt 1911 collecting are those special Pre-War .38 Supers that were hand-tuned and stamped "Super Match". When a customer ordered a Super Match, "they received a right out of the box Target pistol equipped with a smooth hand-honed action, selected Match barrel and Patridge sights" all for an additional $4. The Super Match was introduced in February of 1932. Early models were simply stamped "Match" and later models were stamped "Super Match". Barrel is stamped "Colt Super 38 Auto Match" on lower left side at lug. From 1932 to 1947, a total of 4,001 Super Match Models were produced. Standard features include blued finish with checkered walnut grips. All small parts are hand checkered. This pistol has survived in beautiful all original condition, retaining fully 98-99% of its original high polish factory blue finish with a hint of light muzzle wear, an extremely light drag line. The slide does have a couple of minor age freckles, but they are very minor. Grips are near mint. Near new inside. The magazine, unfortunately, is a later replacement and not two-toned. The King of the .38 Super line up.
